BCOMBINATOR WILL MANAGE A 40 MILLION FUND BACKED BY FOND-ICO GLOBAL.

Bcombinator to manage $40 million fund backed by Fond-ICO Global to invest in 100 tech startups in Pre-Seed

Bcombinator has been selected by the Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO), through its management company AXIS, as one of the managing entities in the 17th call of the Fond-ICO Global program. The Barcelona-based firm will manage a 40 million euro fund aimed at boosting around 100 technology startups in pre-seed and seed stages.

Bcombinator’s investment fund is framed within the incubation and technology transfer category, and is aimed at promoting technology projects with a sector and industry agnostic approach. Its main selection criteria will be the use and development of artificial intelligence as a driver of innovation.

Initial tickets will range from 50,000 to 100,000 euros, with the possibility of follow-on investments (follow-ons) of up to 500,000 euros in those projects that demonstrate the greatest traction and growth potential.

With a total budget of 850 million euros, the new Fond-ICO Global call will mobilize more than 2.4 billion euros in public-private investment. Bcombinator shares this category with other specialized early stage funds such as Demium, Faraday or Archipélago Next, consolidating its position among the most active and relevant players in the seed ecosystem in Spain.

“This backing is a strong validation of our investment thesis and marks a key milestone in our ability to drive talent from the earliest stages,” says Jordi Martín, co-founding partner and CEO of Bcombinator. “Our commitment is firm: to be by the founders’ side from day one, providing not only capital, but mentoring, community and a global vision that allows them to scale solidly.”

Since its creation, Bcombinator has boosted more than 100 startups through a comprehensive value proposition that combines one of the highest rated acceleration programs in the Spanish entrepreneurial ecosystem, professional early-stage investment and a powerful network of contacts. Its Innovation Hub, with more than 15,000 members, reinforces its ability to connect talent, capital and opportunities on an international scale.

With a growing projection in Latin America, Bcombinator expands its global reach and strengthens the bridges between Europe and America for startups with international ambitions. This new phase consolidates the firm as one of the strategic hubs of reference for technology entrepreneurship in Europe.

At a time when capital has become more selective, initiatives like this strengthen the national innovative fabric and position Spain as an attractive pole for the creation and scaling of new companies with international ambitions.
